Mayan Self Portraits

Year 4 have more or less completed their Mayan style self-portraits in 2D. A3 in scale these designs have taken some time to complete as the pupils went on a lovely investigation in to Mayan cultural symbols, design preparations using photography, tracing and imaginative drawing. Sketchbook work helped us prepare our ideas, then away we went in a step by step process of creating portrait and glyphs (every one unique)!

I wonder from the gallery below can you guess at any of our Year 4 pupils????

However that is not all! As some of these images are now to appear on a tent like fabric covering that is being created for our reading area in the new Allen Lawton Learning Centre. So our design work becomes Public Art! Brilliant!

The pupils are now working on relief portrait images and we will soon post up further display work of the additional learning undertaken this term.
